What is Coaching and how does it differ from Mentoring?
Coaching is a relationship in which a coach supports, collaborates
with, and facilitates their client's learning. A coach
helps their client identify and achieve future goals
through assessment of the current situation, and skillfully
eliciting desired future results.
A coaching partnership engages
the client in discovery, reflection, strategizing, planning
and taking effective action. Coaching moves one to a
higher order of thinking and personal presence, and
to a new level of self-realization.
Mentoring is the sharing of specific expertise. A client may hire
a coach for their special knowledge or experience and
then discover their coach brings so much more to their
partnership. This is because coaches use professionally
developed coaching skills that move the client forward,
not just share their expertise.
I
work with private clients who are serious about taking
themselves or their business to the next level. These
people realize the way they are going to reach, maintain
or increase success is by identifying their future result,
clearing the blocks and taking consistent action to
move forward. We're always considering 'who' the person
needs to become, in order to achieve 'what' they want to accomplish next.
